Why is in-home care better?

Seniors who use home care services can benefit from a variety of advantages that can help them age with dignity and independence. These assistance options can range from help with basic daily services like clothing, grooming, and bathing to assistance with managing prescriptions, companionship, and transportation to medical appointments.

Seniors may age in place, which is one of the main benefits of home care. As a result, they won’t need to relocate to a nursing home or assisted living facility and can stay in their current residences. Seniors who have strong emotional ties to their homes and communities as well as those with mobility challenges who find it challenging to leave their homes may benefit from this in particular.

Home care can also help seniors in maintaining their independence, which is a benefit. Home care aides can help seniors with activities of daily living like bathing, clothing, and grooming, but they can also educate them how to do these things on their own or work with them to modify their homes so that they are more accessible. Seniors may help a greater sense of independence and self-control as a result.

Seniors receiving home care may also benefit from companionship and socialization, which are important for preserving excellent mental health. Many elderly seniors feel isolated and lonely, especially if they are unable to get out and interact as much as they formerly could. Seniors can interact with their communities through activities and events with the help of home care assistants, who can also offer conversation and companionship.

Seniors who get home care may also feel protected and secure. Many seniors are susceptible to accidents in their homes, especially those who have ongoing medical concerns. Seniors can move about safely, receive assistance with potentially dangerous activities, and be watched over by home care staff, all of which can help to prevent accidents.

Statistics About The Value of In-Home Care

The benefits of in-home care for seniors are supported by a number of statistics. 90% of senior seniors prefer to age in place and remain in their current residences as long as possible, according to an AARP study. In addition, a National Center for Health Statistics study discovered that seniors who receive home care are more likely to be released to their own homes following a hospital stay and are less likely to be sent to the hospital.

Seniors who got home care were more likely to perceive an improvement in their general health and well-being, according to a different study by the National Association of Home Care and Hospice. A National Association of Area Agencies on Aging survey also revealed that seniors who got home care were more likely to feel happy with their quality of life.

Home care services can help seniors age in place, keep their independence, find companionship and socialization, and feel safe and secure, among many other benefits. If you or a loved one requires home care services, it’s critical to do your homework and select a trustworthy organization or provider that can cater to your unique requirements.

The U.S. Census Bureau projects that by 2060, there will be 98 million seniors in the country who are 65 or older, up from around 46 million in 2016. This means that there will be a greater demand for senior home care services in the coming seniors.

The global home healthcare market is anticipated to expand between 2017 and 2023 at a compound yearly growth rate of 7.5%, according to a report by Market Research Future. An aging population and a greater emphasis on delivering care at home rather than in a hospital or nursing home are the main causes of this trend.
